Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera – C-mount

This is the Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera. It is a 1.6-megapixel camera from Raspberry Pi. This type of camera doesn't exhibit the typical artifacts of rolling shutter cameras, making it ideal for fast-motion photography and machine vision applications. Even small distortions can affect inference performance.

The Global Shutter Camera features a large pixel size of 3.45 μm × 3.45 μm, ensuring high light sensitivity. This is beneficial for high-speed photography as it allows for short exposure times. The camera incorporates a 1.6MP Sony IMX296 sensor and the same C/CS-mount lens assembly as the Raspberry Pi HQ Camera, making it compatible with a wide range of lenses.

The IMX296 has lower resolution compared to rolling shutter sensors of similar size, which is advantageous for machine vision applications. Higher-resolution images can be challenging to process in real-time. With the right lens magnification, the lower resolution of the Global Shutter Camera can capture an image suitable for machine vision model processing.

The Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera includes the following accessories: one C- to CS-mount adapter, screwdriver, 150mm flex cable, and a removable plastic back for protection. It is compatible with any Raspberry Pi computer that has a CSI connector.

This camera comes with a cable for the Raspberry Pi 1, 2, 3 or 4. For the Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero2W you need the adapter cable for the Raspberry Pi Zero. For the Raspberry Pi 5 you need the adapter cable for the Raspberry Pi 5. These are not supplied as standard.
